Hair shears are professional hairdressing scissors which are extensively used by stylists. No wonder, every stylist carries his favorite pair of hair shears. But did you know that these hair scissors can easily wear out, if they are manufactured from cheap material.

Undoubtedly my hair has a mind of its own… true to form as a naturally curly haired girl I often go on the quest to achieve the ever sought out bone straight look with no avail. It feels as though I have used every product known to man that promises to help you achieve the ultimate bone- straight tresse.

Indeed I have had my fair share of success stories but unfortunately these stories are only short lived due to my long time frenemy named humidity which leaves me looking more like Diana Ross from the disco era rather than Cher circa the “I got you babe years”.

I know we have been told time and time again to embrace our natural texture but its human nature to want what we don’t have and for me that its naturally straight hair.

During the summer months, rocking my natural curls was my only realistic option next to chemical treatments but as fall approaches my aims towards straight hair is more achievable.

Fortunately fall 2010 is deeming the sleek bone-straight look as a must have this season, it is all the rage on the runways and once again is making a major comeback. So once again I have embarked on the journey to achieve “the bone- straight look” and as my tool I tried the 1” Scissorboy tourmaline flat iron.

Here’s what I did:

Prep: First and foremost it is essential to coat the hair with a heat protectant so I cock-tailed flatliner sleek and magic finish from Schwarzkopf professional’s OSiS line to add conditioning and shine to the hair. I additionally coated my ends with Morocconoil to provide extra heat protection.

The tool: I parted my hair and straightened one inch sections at a time, paying close attention to the roots. It is important to note that the finer the sections, the flatter the results will be. I also used a fine tooth comb down the shaft to ensure that my hair is tangle and knot free.

The 450 Fahrenheit capability of this iron straightened my tress with only one past which was a pleasant surprise. A great feature on this iron was undoubtedly its temperature dial wheel which I preferred over the typical digital models. This light weight iron was a dream to use and the sleek & sexy black design only added to its appeal.

The 1” plate is ideal for short hair but worked amazingly well on my long thick mane. Another must have feature this iron has is tourmaline plates, which for my ethnic hair creates a shiny smoother finish.

We all wash our hair whenever necessary. Some people prefer washing them regularly while others prefer to prolong it for whatever reason. But there’s a common misconception which may have led many people to their non-hair-washing ways: that washing too often can lead to hair loss.

Although you might be losing hair while in the shower or combing your hair, that is perfectly normal, and not related to how often you wash. Five percent of your hair is in the shedding phase, which means you can lose 80 to 100 hairs every day, regardless of when or how often you shower.

As for hair loss, much of it is caused by hormones and can be genetic. Men typically lose hair in the crown and frontal areas, while women’s hair tends to thin all over. Medication can cause hair loss as a side effect, and stress is another factor that can lead to thinning.

A big factor for hair loss that is often neglected is the use of hair shears. If you are cutting hair with cheap quality hair scissors, then your hair may get tangled and prone to hair loss when you are combing them. Therefore it is absolutely vital to use good quality hair shears.

If you are worried about losing your hair, it is very important to have it evaluated by an expert. A dermatologist will be able to diagnose the type of baldness you’re experiencing, as well as potential causes.

Regularly washing your hair will not lead to hair loss. In fact it will keep your scalp clean and moist and prevent dandruff. So make sure you are using the right products on your hair and are using good quality hair shears while cutting them. With a clean scalp and properly nourished hair, you will never have to worry about hair loss.
