Up on stage in Biloxi, MS this weekend, was an industry that revolves around the latest styles, scissor-sharpening, high-end shears, and cutting edge products: the hair industry. Hair models and their stylists took to the stage, showing off the hippest trends in cuts, color and styling.

“What it’s designed to do is introduce the trade to new ideas, venues, techniques, services that are available so that they can in turn promote that to their salon clientele,” said Brad Champion, owner of Champion Beauty Supply.

“I think it gives her a lot of confidence. I think that when a woman looks great, she feels great and she has a lot of confidence in the way that she walks and the way she talks,” said Angela Stringer, a salon owner.

She and her staff know how important it is to be on the cutting edge, especially since current styles can be as fickle as The Pob or The Pixie.

“Typically, hair is pretty cyclical. We say it runs in twenty year cycles, and so what we’re seeing a movement to now is stronger fringes. We’re seeing a lot of texture come back into hair, where it’s been really bone straight for a lot of years. What we’re really beginning to see is a lot of movement and texture being reintroduced into the market place,” Champion said.
